After a spell behind the scenes in theatre, I began in the film industry at Joe Dunton Cameras (Panavision) where I became film projectionist and was part of the video department. I then moved into post production and at Framestore made my debut as an editor, evolving with the new world of digital visual effects.
It was the most magical time. The work was broad, varied and always challenging. The film world was awakening to this new arena, testing the boundaries of what could be achieved digitally.
I worked in a wide range of genres across VFX, editorial and design (it was the Wild West - if you could do the work, you got the job) - Digital Advertising, Content, Channel Branding, Idents, Title Sequences, Comedy TV (Spitting Image) and Music Videos.
Much later, as a VFX Supervisor and Flame Artist I managed a succession of VFX Departments in mostly boutique VFX Studios, bidding, advising clients, attending shoots, empowering artists, mentoring juniors and winning awards. I am credited on many TV Dramas and a couple of independent films.
